AUPs
Some AUP information is easily accessible online, including
personnel, hazardous agent responses, and controlled drug usage.
You can also now submit certain AUP amendment forms completely
online, saving time and paperwork.
As part of our continuing effort to make all information as
easily accessible as possible, we are working towards moving
nearly all of the AUP-related forms and responses onto LIMS. This
would allow you to access your AUP from any computer and to
manage the application and renewal process online rather than
using a great deal of paper.

Attachments
All of the documentation associated with an AUP is now
available on LIMS. Users can search for documents based on type,
amendment type, or status. If the attachments associated with
the AUP are searchable PDFs, the contents of the documents are
included in the AUP search if the Document Contents option is
selected in the Column Options dropdown.

Amendments
Some AUP amendments can be submitted through LIMS. These include
including
- increasing mouse budgets,
- adding hazardous agents,
- adding personnel, and
- adding mouselines.
This saves both time and paper and creates a more easily
accessible record of what amendments have been submitted for any
given AUP.

AUP Personnel Tracking
Person records are now associated directly with AUPs,
which can reduce the amount of extraneous information displayed
to members of labs with many AUPs active at the same time.
The date that a person was added to or removed from an AUP is
displayed here.

Hazardous Agents Tracking & Response Forms
To ensure ready access to hazardous agents information,
LIMS includes additional information about each potentially
hazardous agent. Response forms from our Laboratory Safety
Manager are also available directly on LIMS, so that you have
access to them throughout the facility at any time.

Procedures
To ensure ready access to information about the procedures
allowed on an AUP, we have started to track this information
on LIMS. At the moment, we list the permitted euthanasia
methods. In the future, this tab will also describe approved
surgical and experimental procedures.

Post-Approval Reviews (PARs)
Periodically, our staff will review the work done on a
lab's AUP. The details about the findings are stored on
LIMS.

Controlled Drugs Inventory & Exemption Tracking
Although Controlled Drug Exemptions are the responsibility
of individual labs, some drugs are distributed through TCP. We
now track that information on LIMS rather than in paper log
books, to ease accounting and authorization issues.
